Dr Stan Baker and Dr Kathryn Baker arrived in Campus today, on a two-day visit. They were received near Miller’s Statue.

At 11 am, they met with the Principal, which was followed by presentations with College Officials in the Council Room.

At 1.45 pm, Dr Stan Baker and Dr Kathryn Baker met with the HoDs and faculty representatives. Mrs. Suma Jayakar presented on Exchange Programmes with LeTourneau University, Texas.

At 3 pm, Dr. Sheeba, CWS, facilitated a visit to the Fashion Design Studio, coordinated by Dr. Aarthi Ram.

This was followed by a visit to MMIP, and a visit to the Chapel facilitated by Dr. Daniel Evans.

The guests then paid a visit to the College Farm, coordinated by Dr. Richard Selvasingh, and a tour of the pavilion, coordinated by Dr. Viswanath.

8th August 2023

At 11 am on 8th August 2023, there was a discussion in the Council Room, on offering MCC-LeTourneau Wellness Certificate Programme. Dr. James Zacharias, HoD, Physical Edn, Dr. Joyce Priyakumari, HoD, Zoology, participated in the discussions.

At 2 pm, the Dept of BBA organized a lecture with Dr. Stan Baker titled, ‘Leadership & Management – A Contrast: What will tomorrow look like for the new graduate organization”.

Mrs. Suma Jayakar later addressed the students on Student Exchange Programme for BBA students.

At 3.30 pm, Dr. Kathryn Baker addressed the students of Physical Education Dept, on the topic, “Understanding and Valuing Health and Wellness: Assessment & Training on Cardiorespiratory, Muscular Strength, Flexibility”.

Prof. Ajayan Vinu, Director & Global Innovation Chair, Professor for Adv Nanomaterials, from the University of Newcastle was here today, the 5th of August 2023 for a few proposals to be discussed with us.

At 10.45 am, Prof. Ajayan Vinu delivered the R. Gopalan Endowment Lecture in the Anderson Hall, organized by the Dept of Chemistry (Aided).

This was followed by lunch at the Principal’s residence.

At 2 pm, Prof. Ajayan had a discussion with Heads of Departments and Faculty of the Science Departments on –

Semester Abroad

Internship Opportunities

Potential Research Projects

Proposals tabled during the discussion – at a glance -

1. M.Sc Materials science program (Interdisciplinary program with Physics, Chemistry and Biology)

2. We have only one-year commitment

3. Second year they will pursue the course at New castle and the credits will be transferred

4. We can give M.Sc Materials science degree and they will give M.Sc Materials science and engineering

(Dual degree program)

5. We can tie up a few companies in India and Australia for placement

6. Those who wish to pursue Ph D in Australia can easily get into top universities in Australia or other countries through his network

Coordinate with the Department of Chemistry for Endowment lecture through which he wants to -

• present the scope of pursuing this course to all science students. Dr. lyyapan is working on the endowment. But we need to invite all the science departments from the Dean IP

• He wants to Visit MMIP to connect us to the industries for supporting R&D

• if there is a slot available, Dean R&D can have a discussion on research collaboration with University of Newcastle

Mostly Physics, Chemistry are working on materials and biology departments will work on applications

All five departments may be invited for R. Gopalan Endowment lecture

We can have a meeting with all 5 HoDs if you complete the first round
