Meeting for Discussing Collaborations with Konyang University, South Korea
In pursuance of our sustained interactions with Konyang University, South Korea, and the discussions we have had with them via zoom last month, and the subsequent clearance given by our legal coordinator for the draft MoU for prospective signing between the two institutions, we had Prof. Beck, Director of the Singapore Office, Konyang University, with us to discuss areas for mutual collaboration and cooperation and for signing of MoU between the two institutions, on Thursday, 8th August 2024 at 10.30 am in the Council Room.
Following are the points discussed -
1) They welcome our students for master program. If the student has 5.5 in IELTS he will get 40 percent discount in tuition fee and more than 6.5 score he gets 50 percent discount. The fee for one semester approximately comes around 2 lakh INR. Plus 35,000 INR as registration fee.
2) Upon completion of the program the student gets an 5 year work permit VISA, thus after 5 years it will be extended for another 5 year and later he will be eligible for PR.
3) During the course of study students can work in part time and earn more than what they spent.
4) Encourage and welcoming students to do 3 month internships in South Korea, however all the expenses need to be taken care by the student himself. They only facilitate the process.
5) Requesting MCC to have a Korean Language centre of Konyang University in MCC. (Global open Learning) like they can watch the lecture from Korea, all the study materials will be given to our students. Hence we can discuss with Prof. Lee to discuss the implications.
6) Once we offer Global Open Learning they are happy to get involved in SEP.
Note: There main Focus is on Tourism Department and Korean Language Centre.
