The first ideational initiative of MCC Think Tank was part of an idea brought out by Ben Francis Abi from 3rd BA History (vocational). From his idea of a Quiz club for MCC came the plan to organize a Quiz Competition.
Thus Megalopolis happened on Thursday, 17th October, 2024 at Blue Whale Seminar Hall in MCC Innovation Park from 10.45 to 2.30 pm. The event got around 32 teams for registration and 14 teams turned up. The event started off with Meryn giving an idea about Think Tank and the Quiz Competitions origin, followed by Durga reciting the college prayer. Dr. Samuel Rufus, Dean of International Programmes, and Mrs. Arthi Ram, coordinator of MCC Innovation Park addressed the gathering.
Megalopolis was an international quiz organized by Ben along with the help of Aakhil Mohammad and Khanish Kaushik from 3rd year BA Zoology.
Quiz had 3 stages: A preliminary round, an elimination round and the finals. The prelims was a written test with 15 questions and among them 3 star questions for tie breaker. Top 5 teams of prelims entered the finals and the next 3 teams went into the elimination round. From the 3 teams one team got into finals by answering the most number of correct answers.
The final began at 12.00 with 6 teams and 12 participants. There were 4 rounds for the quiz and it was based on various topics like sports, geography, entertainment and personalities on a global level. After a vibrant quizzing session, the 1st prize was won by Joel Isaiah and Jefferson Samuel, Hemanth S and Timeus Christian Sunder came second followed by Ashish and Mikhayel A K.
Members of Think Tank Souparno, Lekha, Kavin, Shanon, Durga and Meryn were present all through the event assisting Ben. Overall the quiz competition was a complete success and we ended the event by having a late lunch.
“Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.”
