Meeting with Prof. Vincent Mangematin, Catholic University, France | A Report

Prof. Vincent Mangematin, Executive Dean of ESDES Lyon Catholic University, France, visited MCC today, 8th November 2024 in our College, on his first ever visit to Chennai.

The Office of Dean IP facilitated a series of rewarding discussions on various aspects with Catholic University, on the occasion.

A few of the topics discussed are as follows -  

1. Madras Christian College seeks to develop mutual relations and collaborations (leading to MoUs) based on faculty and student exchange between the two institutions.

2. We could collaborate on twinning programmes – Two plus One, or Two plus Three or Three plus Two Programmes, which would give our students a chance to experience France. That means, after their second year, they can exit MCC and complete their BBA (or related programme) in Lyon Catholic University with subsidies.

3. We would like to emphasise on subsidies, grants and scholarships for our students, to come and study in Catholic University, France. (not discounts like it’s done for consultancies/agencies)

4. If mobility is a problem, we are even open for hybrid/online engagement for certain programmes.

5. Dr. Allen Freddy, a Molecular Biologist, highlighted to Catholic University, France,  on the Medical laboratory programme in Lyon, which interests him and their Department.

6. Prof. Arun Kumar, Associate Dean of International Programmes, has requested for a Summer School for Business students and related disciplines.

7. Dr. Tabitha, Dean of Research and Development has put forward a proposal for International Interdisciplinary Internships, Capacity Building and Infrastructure Support.

8. Dr. Belinda, Director, Extension Programmes, welcomed their students for Short-term Cultural Immersion Programmes, Short-Term Courses, etc, (tailor-made as per request of home institution).

9. Since Prof. Vincent had mentioned that all their students have to take an engagement with an NGO, at least for 50 hours, or they have to opt for a two-month NGO programme abroad, we warmly invited their students to Intern with us for such engagements, which will offer them cultural immersion as well.

10. Dr. Vijay Solomon, Coordinator of MCC-Research Colloquium emphasized on collaborating with Catholic University, France, on Papers, Projects and Patents. They also look forward to joint editing for publishing papers, and Joint research projects for funding agencies.

11. Dr. Aarthi Ram, Head, Operations, MCC-MRF Innovation Park, has given a proposal for collaborating with Catholic University, France, on bootcamps, hackathons, start-ups, entrepreneurships, incubations, etc.

12. Dr. Hans Freddy, Coordinator of Writers’ Café, has expressed his interest in collaborating with Catholic University, France, on book publishing.

As an eminent educational institution in India, ranked 14th in India, among Arts & Science Colleges, and serving the nation from 1837 onwards, we look forward to having rewarding collaborations with Catholic University, France.
