Visit of Ms. Sivaganga, Melbourne, Australia to MCC – Reg.
Ms. Sivaganga Sahathevan, an illustrious alumna of the Department of Botany, Madras Christian College, visited us in Campus on Thursday, 6th February 2025.
Ms. Sivaganga is a respected figure in the Australian Indian community and is known for her contributions to music. She received an award from SBS Australia, recognizing her dedication to the Indian community in Victoria, including her involvement in music.
She is the founder / coordinator of ‘Taste of India’ in 2001 which has since been a colossal success showcasing artistic and aesthetic qualities of Indian culture.
Students of Ms. Sivaganga Sahathevan - the Founder / Coordinator of TOI & Chandrabanu’s Bharathalaya, along with classical Indian performing art professionals from Australia have collaborated to expand their knowledge & skills with this event. Over the years, several internationally renowned Indian artists have been invited to perform in Melbourne by the ‘Taste of India’ committee.
Today TOI is a significant event in Melbourne’s Darebin Music Feast that fosters the vibrant growth of the independent music & art scene in Melbourne, Australia.
At 10.45 am Ms. Sivaganga was warmly welcomed by our Principal Dr. Paul Wilson.
At 11.15 am, Ms. Sivaganga along with her daughter, visited the MCC-MRF Innovation Park, facilitated by Ms. Aarthi Ram. This was followed by an interaction with our Principal, Deans, Dr. Jacob, Dr. Daniel Evans and Dr. Aarthi, to discuss possible areas for collaboration. Mr. Alan Eben, II MA English pitches his proposal for the Pipe Organ.
At 12 pm – Dr. Babu, Dept
of Botany, ushered Ms. Sivaganga to the Dept of Botany for interaction with the
faculty and students of the Department of Botany.
At 1 pm, Ms. Sivaganga was hosted for lunch by our Principal.
